Responsible Party (Primary and Open Item)

Responsible Party:

The term “Responsible Party” refers to either an entity such as a subcontracting company or individual such as a superintendent who is responsible for the work or materials being inspected.

What are Primary and Open Item Responsible Parties

FTQ360 lets you assign accountability or responsibility to two categories of Responsible Parties. You can have a “Primary Responsible Party” and an “Open Item Responsible Party”. Primary Responsible Parties will display in the “Responsible Party” section of the top blue header on an inspection or test. Open Item Responsible Parties will display on the Responsible Party drop-down of an OPN (Open) item checkbox.

How to Decide

Primary Responsible Parties:  Typically, primary responsible parties are individuals or entities that have overall responsibility for project performance. Thus, you would setup your project foremen, superintendents and/or project managers as Primary Responsible Parties for their project.

Open Item Responsible Parties: Open item responsible parties are typically those individuals or entities that either did the work being inspected (such as subcontractors, vendors, or suppliers) or are tasked with fixing the open items.  

Setup Responsible Parties

All Responsible Parties, regardless of whether they are primary or open item RPs, are added under “Setup” to the “Responsible Party Setup Process screen. Once added here, your responsible parties can now be selected where appropriate by your project inspectors. Please note, very often, a project inspector will be both the Primary Responsible Party and the Inspector.
